Apparently Qld Rail wouldn't allow a level crossing near the Gateway road opposite Viola place.  So the bike route had to use the bridge at  Schneider Rd to get across the railway line. The high price of fuel, and traffic congestion are probably the reasons cycling remains popular. Some airport roads have wide sealed shoulders, no parked cars and few intersections and are better to ride on than many other Brisbane Roads.
